SAMSONITE Sustainability Actions

Launched responsible journey in 2020

In 2020, Samsonite launched its responsible journey focusing on three pillars, product, planet and people. It says this is the compass guiding its decision making to 2030 and beyond.

Achieved renewable electricity

Samsonite achieved 100% renewable electricity across its owned and operated retail stores, manufacturing and distribution facilities and offices for the first time in 2023, two years ahead of its target date.

Expanded repair services

Since 1976, Samsonite has offered repair services so customers can keep using their products. It now offers repairs in approximately 70 countries globally, including in many stores.

Introduced recycled materials

In 2018, Samsonite introduced its first collection incorporating a portion of post-consumer recycled PET plastic from recycled water bottles. In 2019, it introduced the Samsonite S’Cure Eco, its first luggage with an outer shell made in part with post-consumer recycled polypropylene from household waste such as yogurt cups. In 2024, it expanded the use of recycled materials beyond plastics, launching products containing a portion of post-consumer recycled aluminum in the pull-handle.

Launched circular limited editions

In 2025, Samsonite launched the Essens Circular Limited Edition illustrating circular design principles. It says the outer shell is made with at least 80% recycled materials by weight, including around 35% recycled polypropylene from pre-owned suitcases, which are shredded and mixed with other post-consumer recycled materials.

Broadened recycling partnership

In 2025, Samsonite broadened its partnership to find a solution to collect and recycle products which cannot be repaired or reused, transforming them into outdoor seating and surfacing products and ensuring they do not go to landfill.
