Seekers Optical Sustainability Actions

Certified B Corp practice

Seekers is an independent, family-owned and B Corp certified practice. As of July 2023, this philosophy has now been recognised with our official B Corp Certification. A Certified B Corporation is a business, big or small, that meets and maintains the highest standard of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Powered by green energy

We run on 100% green energy through Red Energy and bank with fellow B Corp, Bank Australia.

On-site lens fitting lab

At Seekers we cut and fit your prescription lenses in our onsite lab. Not only does this mean you can get your glasses quicker, but it allows us to control the process, reducing water consumption and plastic waste. Water used in the cutting process is fully recycled, and passes through three filtration stages to ensure that all microplastics are removed from the wastewater.

Reuse and relens frames

Embrace the slow fashion movement and reuse your existing frames by re-lensing them when your prescription changes. As an incentive, it is our policy to offer a 20% discount on new lenses when re-lensing your preloved frames.

Recycle old frames and lenses

We will recycle your old lenses and any unwanted frames through our partnership with Spexcycle.

Contact lens recycling

Join our contact lens recycling program and feel good about stopping contact lens waste in its tracks. Pick up your handy contact lens recycling pouch from Seekers. Fill the reusable, plant-based pouch with your used contact lenses and packaging and when it’s full, bring it to Seekers. We recycle contact lens waste on your behalf through our partnership with TerraCycle.

Donate frames to people in need

Donate your unneeded frames - We’ve partnered with Lions Recycle for Sight, who provide refurbished quality spectacles to people in need in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia & Oceania.

Return supplier boxes

Returning supplier boxes - Instead of recycling our cardboard from Hoya’s lens laboratory, we store and return the boxes so they can be used again and again.

Use of lower-impact materials

All of our master-crafted eyewear brands across Europe, Japan and the US use long-lasting materials in their products, specifically acetate (plant-based) that can be buffed and restored, unlike synthetic plastic. We source exclusively from suppliers using recycled, biodegradable, and non-toxic materials, and we use FSA-certified cardboard bags throughout our practice.
