Shoplight Ltd presents sustainability as a fundamental factor guiding its direction and actions. The company says its sustainability journey is one of continuous improvement and that it aims to make the most sustainable choice within available resources. Its environmental focus is centred on product design, circularity, responsible supply chain decisions and lower-impact travel. Shoplight manufactures its own range of biopolymer retail lighting and says its biggest impact comes from developing more environmentally friendly products and services. It also operates a circular scheme, Circu-light, to repair, upgrade, reuse and recycle products, and it prefers local suppliers and organisations that consider their impact on people and the planet.

Shoplight Ltd Sustainability Actions

Biopolymer retail lighting

By manufacturing our own range of biopolymer retail lighting, we can make more sustainable decisions related to product design, the raw materials we use, their packaging and how our products are distributed.

Circu-light circular scheme

We have taken bold steps towards adopting a circular economy model, minimising waste, and maximising resource efficiency. Our products and services extend the life span of our products, and we’ve made repairing, upgrading, reusing and recycling them easy through Circu-light.

Responsible supply chain

We prioritise a responsible supply chain by ensuring our purchasing decisions for Shoplight are influenced by the credentials of the organisations we buy from. This approach helps us maintain high standards and ethical practices in our operations. It’s not just about cost. We also prefer to buy locally and work with B Corps and organisations that consider their impact on people and the planet.

Lower-impact travel choices

We choose to train overdrive wherever possible, tracking our impact with the Trainline’s Carbon Calculator. Most of our company vehicles are electric. As van ranges improve, we can consider electric vans for replacements.

UK-made circular luminaires

Over the past four years, we’ve been on a mission to redefine what sustainable retail lighting can look like in the UK. What started with the launch of NORT, our first 3D-printed biopolymer spotlight, has grown into a much larger transformation across Shoplight. We’ve recently opened our new assembly area, increasing our production capabilities to increase the scale of our in-house 3D printing, allowing us to manufacture even more sustainable, circular biopolymer luminaires right here in the UK.
