SJF invests in products and services that mitigate environmental harm and help community resilience and adaptability in a changing environment. Much of SJF’s investment activity in this area has focused on food systems, with other areas of interest including sustainable packaging, nature-based carbon projects, and AI-enhanced climate adaptation tools.

Collected impact data since 2001

SJF has been collecting impact data from its portfolio companies since 2001, though this process has taken many different forms throughout its history. SJF says it has 25 years of impact data collected from portfolio companies.

Partnered with Duke students

In 2024, SJF partnered with a team of executive MBA students at Duke's Fuqua School of Business to build a model estimating the avoided emissions associated with SJF’s portfolio companies.

Relaunched the SJF Institute

SJF says it relaunched the SJF Institute to improve access to impact products. The site lists SJF Institute as 2025-Today.

Supported B Corp certification

TemperPack announced it earned certification as a B Corporation from B Lab, with an overall B Impact Score of 98.8. SJF, whose management company is also a Certified B Corp, supported TemperPack throughout the assessment and certification process.
