Snowball Sustainability Actions

Annual engagement initiative

Snowball Principals Henry Bacon and Laura Boyle were interviewed by ESG Investor about Snowball's new in-depth annual engagement initiative. The Snowball impact framework means we only invest in best-in-class fund managers; we recently asked these managers 60 survey questions covering diversity equity and inclusion, nature & biodiversity, and net zero. The survey—conducted as part of Snowball’s fourth impact report which is launching today—shows fund managers are treating climate-related matters with increasing seriousness. Progress on DEI was more sluggish.

Impact investing in listed equities

Impact investing is gaining traction, driven by asset owners seeking positive impact. Listed equity markets are key to addressing crises like climate change. The article says impact investing is ‘investing that is made with the intention of generating positive, measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return’ and notes that Snowball is an example of an asset manager setting out how it understands and attempts to deliver a positive impact.

Joined Tribe Impact Capital

Snowball is now part of Tribe Impact Capital LLP. Tribe Impact Capital said it had expanded its offering in partnership with Snowball and that bringing Snowball into Tribe would broaden its reach and deepen its impact.

Impact framework and reporting

Snowball’s impact framework is described as highly selective and based on investing in specialist firms. The company says it takes a balanced approach to investing in positive change at scale, and its fourth impact report included survey questions on diversity equity and inclusion, nature & biodiversity, and net zero.
