Discussed waste management plans

We’ve been working talking to our members this month about putting in place waste management plans, and educating couples about what they can do to minimise waste at their wedding.

Highlighted single-use plastics

Government to consult on banning a range of polluting plastics this Autumn, with single-use plastic plates, cutlery and polystyrene cups under review. The war on plastic waste is set to be ramped up with fresh plans to stop the supply of a range of single-use plastics that threaten our natural environment.

Promoted Recycling Week

Recycling week is coming up – 20th to 26th September 2021. “It takes less energy and fewer emissions to recycle than to make things from scratch, which is why recycling saves a total of 18 million tonnes of CO2 a year in the UK” wrap.org.uk. Recycle Week wouldn’t be possible without the help of people like you spreading the word.

Covered composting at home

Compost: Why are more people dealing with green waste at home? Saving grass cuttings and kitchen scraps for the compost bin has long been second nature for those with green fingers. However, sales of compost products soared during the pandemic, and now more people than ever are making so-called “black gold” at home.

Reported on plastics tax awareness

Businesses ‘not aware’ of plastics tax, Veolia says. A study conducted by waste management giant Veolia found that 83% of businesses are “not aware” of the plastics packaging tax, which is coming into force next year. However, the company says a similar number of respondents (84%) were supportive of the policy as it currently stands.
