Founded BOONBOO in 2014

In our desire to make a significant impact in this world, we have formed BOONBOO in 2014 in Chicago, Illinois. Our mission is to create biodegradable and sustainable products using alternative resources and materials to eliminate our over-reliance to plastics.

Runs on zero-waste principles

BOONBOO recognizes that Zero Waste starts from product design and goes all the way through the entire product’s life cycle. We run our business with Zero Waste principles is mind. This is why our products are well-thought-out so that we don’t create waste from the beginning of the manufacturing process up to the end of the product life.

Developed bamboo product line

Under our BOONBOO line, we have developed, bamboo cottons swabs, bamboo dental floss, bamboo facial pads, bamboo toilet paper, and bamboo straws.

Built LEED Gold headquarters

Synergy Flavors’ US headquarters was built with sustainability in mind and awarded LEED Gold certification in 2019. Our eco-friendly initiatives include installing solar panels on the roof as an on-site source of renewable energy, using native prairie-style species in the landscaping and adding bike racks and fuel-efficient preferred parking.

Benchmarked with EcoVadis

In 2021, we teamed up with EcoVadis to benchmark our sustainability performance and identify ways to improve. EcoVadis assesses companies against seven management indicators containing 21 sustainability criteria across four categories: environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

Reports emissions reduction

SC Johnson’s sustainability initiatives focus on cutting greenhouse gas emissions, sourcing fiber responsibly to prevent deforestation, and driving waste reduction in operations. The company reports a 71% drop in GHG emissions since 2000 and that 45% of its energy comes from renewable sources.

Operates zero-waste sites

93% of owned manufacturing sites operate zero manufacturing waste to landfill by prioritizing reuse, recycling, repurposing and energy recovery.
