Cut direct emissions
Toyota says it plans to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 68% by 2035 from a 2019 base year. Scope 1 means direct emissions from its own operations, and Scope 2 means emissions from purchased electricity and similar energy. The target was validated by SBTi, which means the goal was checked against climate science.
2030
Lower vehicle use emissions
Toyota says it has a 2030 target for Scope 3 Category 11 emissions intensity for passenger light-duty and light-commercial vehicles, with a 33.3% reduction goal. It also lists a 11.6% reduction target for medium and heavy freight trucks. Scope 3 Category 11 means emissions from the use of products after sale, such as driving vehicles.
