Tribe Australia presents itself as a men’s swimwear brand with a sustainability focus built around reducing waste, using recycled materials, and supporting Australian manufacturing. Since being founded in 2008, it has aimed to create a sustainable business and says it uses recycled fishing nets and other recycled materials in its swimwear production. The brand also states that its products are designed and made in Australia, with an emphasis on local craftsmanship, supply chain visibility, and long-lasting garments. Its sustainability content centres on waste reduction, marine protection, and local production.

Tribe australia Sustainability Actions

Uses recycled fishing nets

As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, we've chosen to utilise recycled fishing nets as a key component in our swimwear production process. Made from waste collected from the ocean through the Healthy Seas Initiative, ECONYL® is a 100% regenerated nylon yarn that delivers the same performance as standard polyamide. By incorporating discarded fishing nets into our production process, we're working hand-in-hand with the Healthy Seas Initiative to create a tangible, positive impact on our planet.

Uses recycled swimwear fabrics

We employ three distinct eco-friendly fabrics, made from recycled fishing nets, in our Australian sustainable swimwear range. Nylon Elastane, Chloroban and Eco-Polyester are used across the range, with Eco-Polyester described as weightier 250 GSM offers exceptional wearability and durability while addressing transparency issues and ensuring print vibrancy.

Designs for longevity

Quality, longevity, waste reduction. Using sustainable fabrics is just one way we are trying to build a better world. Our hands-on approach to every piece we create means our men’s swimwear is also built to last. Just like your favourite pair of jeans, your swimmers should see you through many years of fun in the sun.
