Sustainable materials selection

For our collections, we select the highest-quality and sustainable materials, 84% of which come from Italy. Furthermore, like our leather suppliers, we are members of the Leather Working Group, a non-profit organization that promotes a fair and transparent leather industry worldwide.

Handcrafted production in Europe

All our shoes are handmade in Europe, where modern techniques and craftsmanship come together. The result: European quality with a high-fashion finish. We value our relationships with our manufacturers and invest in long-term partnerships. We know all our partners personally and have been working with some of them for over 20 years.

Code of conduct for manufacturers

Our manufacturers have signed a code of conduct, confirming that they work according to agreed conditions in the areas of labor conditions, the environment, and legislation and regulations. We visit our manufacturers six times a year to check and guarantee these standards.

Recycled packaging and shipping

Our consumer shipping boxes are made from 100% recycled paper. We also use a variety of packaging sizes for our webshop to minimize cardboard use. Custom-sized boxes are more space-efficient during transport, which helps reduce COâ‚‚ emissions from shipping.

Climate-neutral consumer shipping

Your VIA VAI order is shipped climate-neutral via DHL. DHL minimizes COâ‚‚ emissions by using electric delivery vans. Any remaining emissions are offset through investments in nature restoration. As of 2023, all consumer shipments are not only climate-neutral but also fossil-free.

Solar-powered headquarters

Our HQ is equipped with 142 solar panels, making us fully energy self-sufficient. We also use LED lighting and provide electric charging stations for our fully electric vehicle fleet.

Employee wellbeing measures

We strive every day to promote sustainable employability by providing our team with an inspiring and pleasant working environment. We’ve set up healthy workspaces with adjustable office chairs, sit-stand desks, and desk bikes. All our employees are given the opportunity to follow education and training programs. We offer the possibility to work from home, and daily working hours can be arranged flexibly where possible.

Support for social initiatives

VIA VAI maintains long-term partnerships with Nova Zembla, Les Cajoutiers Senegal, and Villa Pardoes. Our support goes beyond material or financial donations — we also actively participate in volunteer activities. Each year, we donate financially to Villa Pardoes, and multiple times a year, our entire team volunteers to help make a difference.
