ESG integrated into all assets

Our investment committee has deep experience in ESG and all of our assets integrate ESG factors. We collaborate with investors, advocates, communities, and NGOs to seek corporate change toward positive outcomes in society.

Filed shareholder resolutions

Through our advocacy in 2020, we contributed to 16 company commitments in ESG-related topics. Additionally, we filed 11 shareholder resolutions (leading 9 of them), which resulted in 4 withdraws, indicating a company’s commitment to a change in their practices.

Engaged on climate and pay

We sent a signal to the UPS board of directors to adopt executive compensation structures linked to meeting their greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation targets.

Racial equity audit at Verizon

We had made an agreement with Verizon in 2022 to withdraw our shareholder proposal after they agreed to undertake an independent racial equity audit. Verizon has updated its practices, including developing hiring programs for formerly incarcerated people and eliminating degree and GPA requirements in job applications.

Advocacy on Russia and Ukraine

We wrote a letter to the U.S. Departments of State and Commerce seeking a business advisory, as has happened for other conflict zones, and delivered expert testimony before the State Department along with the advocacy organization Heartland Initiative.

Joined Nature Action 100

Nature Action 100 is an investor engagement effort that aims to drive ambition to halt and reverse the damaging impacts of biodiversity and nature loss around the world. Zevin Asset Management joined this initiative and will engage portfolio companies to align with Nature Action 100’s ambitions in the coming quarters.
