BUDDIES™ Washable Chair Pads

What makes BUDDIES™ Washable Chair Pads Responsible?

1 in 4 Australians experience incontinence at some point in their lives — and BUDDIES™ is here to help. Our chair pads offer soft, silent, waterproof protection, available in 5 colours to complement any décor and in regular or large sizes. Hot machine washable and reusable, they're a responsible choice that significantly reduces waste and landfill when compared to using disposable chair pads.

Machine Washable

Usage

Washable and reusable, reducing the landfill burden caused by single-use disposables.

Recyclable Cardboard Packaging

Packaging

Packaging is 100% cardboard, made from at least 50% recycled content. It can easily be disposed of, for recycling, in your home recycling bin. We are an APCO (Australian Packaging Covenant) Member and assessed as operating at Beyond Best Practice.

Operational Initiatives

Production

With our environmental footprint in mind, we have a number of operational initiatives in place. Our Melbourne facility runs on solar power, saving hundreds of tonnes of CO₂ emissions. Autonomous mobile robots have significantly reduced paper-based order picking, and electric forklifts reduce our consumption of fossil fuels. We also recycle all materials where possible.

Distribution - Looking to the Future

Distribution

Our products are currently distributed via diesel road freight. Reducing the environmental impact of our distribution is an area we are committed to improving, and we are exploring lower-emission alternatives as they become viable.

End of Life

Disposal

At this point in time, at end of life your Buddies® Chair Pads should be disposed of in your household waste bin. However, we are actively working towards future recycling solutions. As a participant in the Top-of-Bed Working Group led by the Australian Bedding Stewardship Council (ABSC), we are contributing to the development of industry-wide recycling infrastructure across all top-of-bed materials. Independently, we believe we have also identified a potential partner capable of recycling returned products and off-cuts into household goods — something we are continuing to explore.
