Birds Eye Sustainability Commitments

2013

Reduce carbon emissions with Tasmanian co-generation plant

We invested in a cogeneration plant at our Ulverstone facility in Tasmania (where Birds Eye Potato products are made). This resulted in a total greenhouse gas emissions reduction of 46% upon its installation. The installation of the gas co-generation plant converted coal-fired boilers to natural gas. Eliminating coal helps decrease our environmental footprint.

2024

Moving to 22% recycled plastic in our Steamfresh 750g microwave steam bags

In 2024 we have brought our first Birds Eye plastic packaging to market that contains recycled material. This is just the start of our packaging sustainability journey, and we are committed to increasing the use of recycled materials across all of our range.

2024

Achieved 90% Responsibly Sourced Seafood for Birds Eye

In our financial year 2024 (September 2023 - August 2024) we shifted the dial on responsible sourcing of seafood species with 90% of the portfolio certified by Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative(GSSI) either Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) or Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)

2025

Zero Waste to Landfill

Our Potato facility in Tasmania has achieved Zero Waste to Landfill. This is a significant achievement, 5 years ahead of our target of 2030
