BODY WILD is an innerwear brand within the GUNZE Group, which states that responding to climate change is a key initiative in sustainable management. GUNZE targets a reduction of at least 35% in total Scope 1+2 CO₂ emissions by 2030 compared with a 2013 baseline, and says it will focus on energy conservation, energy generation, and renewable energy utilization. The group also promotes resource circulation, the 3Rs + Renewable, and the development of environmentally conscious products. In 2024, BODY WILD products were identified as carbon negative in a calculation covering emissions from production and greening project absorption, and GUNZE received Japan’s first CARE (ENVIRONMENT) Certification.

BODY WILD Sustainability Actions

BODY WILD products carbon negative

Gunze, in cooperation with its consolidated subsidiary Gunze Green Co., Ltd., has achieved carbon negativity, in which the amount absorbed exceeds the amount of greenhouse gas emissions. The amount of emissions absorbed by Gunze Green's greening project and the amount of emissions from the production of "3D-MADE Boxers" and "Cutoff™ Boxers" sold by BODY WILD were calculated by the Center for Urban Research, Kyushu University in cooperation with the Natural Capital Credit Consortium, a general incorporated association. As a result, under the analysis based on the method developed by the Center, the "BODY WILD" target products were found to be carbon negative.

Climate change response policy

As a key initiative in sustainable management, “Responding to Climate Change” involves promoting company-wide efforts to reduce environmental impact through decarbonization, aiming to achieve both social and economic value.

TCFD support expressed in 2021

In October 2021, the Gunze Group expressed support for the recommendations put forward by the Financial Stability Board (FSB)’s Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
