Trial hydrogen buses in Geelong
ComfortDelGro Australia says it plans to operate two hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric buses in Geelong in 2025. This is a future trial of a lower-emission bus option in real service. Hydrogen fuel cell buses use hydrogen to make electricity on board, which can reduce exhaust emissions if the fuel is produced with low-carbon energy.

Cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions
ComfortDelGro says its approved climate target is a 54.6% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2032 from a 2019 baseline. Scope 1 means direct emissions from things the company owns or controls, while Scope 2 means emissions from purchased electricity. The target was approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi, a group that checks whether company climate targets match climate science).

Reduce Scope 3 fuel emissions
The company also says it aims to cut absolute Scope 3 emissions from fuel and energy-related activities by 61.2% by 2032 from a 2019 baseline. Scope 3 means indirect emissions in the wider value chain, such as fuel production and energy-related activities outside the company’s direct control. This target is part of its longer-term climate plan.

Reach net zero by 2050
A third-party interview says ComfortDelGro is working toward net zero emissions by 2050. Net zero means balancing the greenhouse gases it emits with removals or cuts elsewhere so the overall total is brought to zero. The same source says the company plans to keep shifting its fleet toward cleaner energy vehicles over time.
