Reframed roadmap as Impact Journey

In 2023, Danone reframed its sustainability roadmap as the Danone Impact Journey. The roadmap grounds its commitments as a “Société à Mission” and a B Corp, and is articulated around three pillars: Health, Nature, and People & Communities.

Achieved global B Corp certification

Danone says it embarked on a B Corp journey in 2015 and achieved it in 2025, becoming fully B Corp certified across the world. The company says more than 200 legal entities are certified across over 60 countries.

Reduced methane from fresh milk

Danone says it is setting ambitious targets, including reducing methane emissions from fresh milk, and states that it was the first company, in 2023, to do so.

Improved water access and stewardship

Danone has set the target of improving water access for 30 million people by 2030. It is also developing plans to preserve and restore watersheds in high water-stressed areas where it operates by 2030, and uses its 4R approach (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Reclaim) in all its production sites.

Reduced food waste

Danone has set the goal of reducing food waste by 50% by 2030, compared to 2020 levels, in line with United Nation's Sustainable Development Goal 12.3.

Improved nutrition profile

Danone says it has already achieved all of its Health through Food targets for 2025. It reports that 98.5% of children’s products contain no more than 10 grams of sugar per 100 grams, and that it has accelerated sugar reduction across its dairy and plant-based products for kids.

Reduced virgin plastic use

Danone reports that it has already reduced virgin plastic use by 17% since 2019 and currently sells more than 45% of its water products in reusable packaging formats.

Published external recognition

Danone states that its commitments and achievements regarding its sustainability priorities are externally assessed. It cites ratings and rankings including Vigeo-Eiris, Sustainalytics, FTSE4Good, CDP, ATNI, Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, MSCI ESG Ratings, ISS ESG Corporate Rating and the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices.
