Emilia George Sustainability Actions

Researching sustainability

Here at Emilia George, we are dedicated to learning and exploring the world of sustainability, and how we can incorporate these values into our brand. From the threads that make up our clothes to the truck that delivers them to you, there is a lot to learn about our impact on the environment. I’m Liana Malinowski, the summer sustainability research intern at Emilia George. It is my job to dive in and discover ways to assess our impact, make a change, and be better!

Using eco fabrics

Emilia George uses three eco-friendly fabrics in their collection: bamboo, cupro, and Tencel-Luxe. Cupro is a cotton bi-product that is a popular alternative to silk since it's soft with a subtle sheen, bamboo is naturally cooling and breathable, and Tencel-Luxe is an eco-friendly fiber sourced from eucalyptus trees.

Producing in small batches

Every Emilia George piece is 100% sustainable and recycled, produced in small batches, and nearly all are OEKO-TEX certified, defining them as safe for nursing infants.

Designing nursing access

All Emilia George pieces are thoughtfully designed with discreet nursing capabilities for easy pump access, and the enduringly classic designs are perfect for any occasion during pregnancy and throughout motherhood.

Researching materials

Sustainable fashion begins with fabric! Comfortable and breathable fabrics are our priority. Cotton and organic cotton are made up of cotton. Organic cotton uses far less water and pesticides as its ordinary counterpart, offering a final product that is safer and softer. Organic cotton production also prioritizes worker rights and soil condition.

Assessing closed-loop fabrics

Tencel and Modal are forms of regenerative cellulosic fabric made from wood pulp. Both of the processes to produce these fabrics are closed-loop systems, meaning the chemicals involved get reused and avoid environmental contact.
