Emilia George Sustainability Actions

Researching sustainability

Here at Emilia George, we are dedicated to learning and exploring the world of sustainability, and how we can incorporate these values into our brand. From the threads that make up our clothes to the truck that delivers them to you, there is a lot to learn about our impact on the environment. I’m Liana Malinowski, the summer sustainability research intern at Emilia George. It is my job to dive in and discover ways to assess our impact, make a change, and be better!

Using eco fabrics

Emilia George uses three eco-friendly fabrics in their collection: bamboo, cupro, and Tencel-Luxe. Cupro is a cotton bi-product that is a popular alternative to silk since it's soft with a subtle sheen, bamboo is naturally cooling and breathable, and Tencel-Luxe is an eco-friendly fiber sourced from eucalyptus trees.

Producing in small batches

Every Emilia George piece is 100% sustainable and recycled, produced in small batches, and nearly all are OEKO-TEX certified, defining them as safe for nursing infants.

Emilia George Sustainability Commitments

2022

Following the Fashion Act

The Fashion Act, which was presented in January 2022, is pending in the hands of the Consumer Protection Committee of the NY Assembly. The act targets fashion companies working in New York with over $100M in global revenues. They would be required to be honest about their social and environmental footprint, and provide their findings to the public.

2025

Seeking certifications

Some applicable certifications for us to consider are MadeSafe, Oeko-Tex Made in Green, RWS, and the Recycled Claim Standard. Several of these labels align with our products so we look forward to the day we can say we are officially Climate Pledge Friendly!
