Fashion Brand Company is an independently owned, direct-to-consumer slow fashion brand based in Los Angeles, founded in 2018 by artist Penelope Gazin. Its sustainability-related information focuses on manufacturing accountability, worker benefits, fabric waste reduction, and the use of lower-impact materials. The company says its factory in Guangdong, China is WRAP certified and that it has an in-house scrap fabric recycling program. It also states that it works with recycled fabrics, organic dyes, and faux leathers made from leftover plant waste, and that it aims to make garments that last for years. The brand also reports donations and fundraising for a range of nonprofit and advocacy organisations.

Fashion Brand Company Sustainability Actions

Opened own factory

In 2021 we proudly opened our own factory in Guangdong, China. Our Factory is WRAP certified, which ensures we are meeting international social compliance and safety standards and keeps our manufacturing processes accountable and consistent.

Scrap fabric recycling

We have developed an in house scrap fabric recycling program to utilize fabric leftovers that would normally be thrown out. If a piece of fabric is bigger than a 2" square it gets used. Instead of a landfill our scraps end up as some of the ugliest garments ever made.

Uses recycled materials

We develop and work with recycled fabrics and organic dyes and very rarely work with synthetic or poly fabrics. One of our most common fabrics, our custom made “eek-ho” ribbed tencel fabric, is made from woven bamboo and uses organic dyes. We also often use faux leathers made from leftover plant waste.
