IVI describes sustainability as part of its mission to discover, develop, and deliver vaccines for communities in resource-limited settings. It says it aims to work sustainably and fairly, limit harm to the environment, and champion equality, inclusion, and ethical governance. In 2021, IVI formed an ESG Committee to measure progress, report on ESG activities, and make strategic recommendations. The organisation has also carried out an Environmental Impact Assessment, developed a standalone Gender Policy, and reports annually to Global Health 50/50. Its sustainability approach is linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with emphasis on environmental management, gender equality, transparency, and responsible governance.
