KAFFE is a clothing brand, but the sustainability content provided relates mainly to Kaffe Bueno and Tchibo’s sustainability memberships. The clearest sustainability information describes a regenerative coffee biorefinery approach, where spent coffee grounds are turned into KAFFOIL® for use in cosmetics. The material says this system mimics nature’s circularity and is backed by life cycle assessment data showing lower emissions than palm oil and argan oil. The other source lists memberships, partnerships, and voluntary commitments connected to safer workplaces, living wages, responsible shipping, and coffee-sector climate and deforestation initiatives.

KAFFE Sustainability Actions

Regenerative coffee biorefinery

KAFFOIL® is created through regeneration in our coffee biorefinery. To give coffee a new life, we designed a regenerative system that mimics nature’s circularity. Just as fallen leaves nourish the forest floor, spent coffee grounds return as oil. The result is an ingredient that nourishes the skin with a radically lower footprint.

Life cycle assessment data

Backed by Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data, KAFFOIL® produces 9.4x fewer emissions than palm oil and 5.6x fewer than argan oil.

Joined the International Accord

As part of the International Accords, Tchibo has joined the two country programmes in Bangladesh by signing the Bangladesh Safety Agreement and in Pakistan by signing the Pakistan Accord.
