Kuyichi is a denim and clothing brand that presents sustainability as part of its core identity. It describes itself as the first organic denim brand since 2001 and says it makes sustainable denim and timeless wardrobe essentials, fairly made to last. Its sustainability reporting focuses on transparency, responsible sourcing, human rights due diligence, circularity, and product impact measurement. In 2024, it highlighted repair services, recycled denim, life cycle assessments, and updated supplier contracting and policies. The brand also states goals to improve the position of women in its Turkish supply chain by 2025 and increase recycled materials to 25% of its total portfolio by 2030.

Kuyichi Sustainability Actions

Launched repair service

We’ve partnered with MENDED to launch the Kuyichi repair service. Customers can easily book repairs online, send in their worn items, and receive them back within ten days. To thank them for choosing repair, we offer a €10 discount on their next Kuyichi purchase. By repairing these clothes and keeping them in play longer, we help save water, energy, and raw materials.

Made jeans from recycled denim

Together with our fabric partner Bossa, we created our first jeans made from 100% post-consumer recycled denim: the Scott Old-Fashioned Blue. By adjusting spinning techniques, Bossa ensured that the shorter fibres from recycled denim could still produce a durable, high-quality 12.75-ounce fabric.

Completed LCAs for CORE denim

We worked with BCome to carry out Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for our CORE denim collection. A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) measures the environmental impact of a product based on its materials, production location, and manufacturing processes. Using our data and secondary sources, BCome calculated four indicators: water scarcity, global warming potential, eutrophication, and abiotic depletion.

Strengthened Code of Conduct

With the guidance of the Responsible Contracting Project, we strengthened our Code of Conduct (CoC) and policies. The updated CoC is now a two-way agreement, setting clear expectations for suppliers while defining our own responsibilities. We also reviewed our human rights, sourcing, and gender inclusivity policies to align with legislation and best practices.

Joined Fair Fashion project

Together with Fair Wear, RVO, and other brands, we launched the ‘For Fair Fashion’ project to improve wages and tackle gender-based violence in Türkiye’s garment industry. Project A ended in 2024 with a research report highlighting key challenges. In project B, we’re testing practical solutions to improve conditions.
