Parley for the Oceans is a global environmental organization and network focused on protecting the oceans through creativity, collaboration and eco-innovation. It works across brands, governments, creative communities and environmental groups to address marine plastic pollution, climate change and biodiversity loss. Its approach, Parley AIR (Avoid, Intercept, Redesign), is used to reduce plastic use, intercept waste before it reaches the environment, and redesign materials and systems. Parley also develops education, science and material innovation initiatives, and collaborates with partners across sport, fashion, design and other sectors to turn ocean protection into practical action.

Parley Sustainability Actions

Launched Parley in 2012

Launched in 2012, Parley has grown from a series of talks into a global movement of individuals, groups and organizations taking action for the oceans.

Created Ocean Plastic®

Parley worked to develop the world’s first supply chain for upcycled marine waste and created Ocean Plastic® as a powerful symbol of change. Initially sourced from islands in the Maldives, the collection network has expanded to the Dominican Republic and Sri Lanka.

Adidas phased out plastics

The adidas Group moved swiftly to completely phase out the use of plastic bags in its retail stores by the end of Q1 2016. Together with their partner COTY, adidas also ended the use of plastic microbeads across all licensed body care products, and halted the use of plastic bottles in all meetings at its headquarters.
