Joined urban sustainability network

Future Earth’s Urban Knowledge-Action Network is a global network of researchers and other innovators in policy, business, civil society, and more. We’re working to solve the most pressing challenges facing cities worldwide. We build new knowledge and tools to accelerate real-world transitions and transformations toward cities that are sustainable and livable.

Worked on urban sustainability areas

URE is active on a wide range of topics including but not limited to the following: Urban transportation and mobility including sustainable transport, active mobility, etc.; Urban planning and management including governance, territorial/regional/rural planning, and the like; Societal issues, including problems related to everyday life in urban societies such as refugees, asylum seekers, etc.; Promotion of physical activity and sport in different age and socioeconomic groups. Data management, management of data collection and surveys, and data analysis; Educational activities, including organization of online teaching and learning events.

Hosted DiTL workshop

On May 8, 2026, we hosted a national workshop as part of the Erasmus+ project DiTL (Disabled People Inclusion and Training in Transport and Logistics), bringing together experts from vocational rehabilitation, academia, and industry. The discussion focused on validating strategic outcomes for labor market integration, with experts strongly endorsing the establishment of a Guidance Office (Lotsenstelle) at the Chambers (IHK/HWK) to help SMEs navigate the fragmented institutional and funding landscape.
