Zalando Sustainability Commitments
2028
Deepen decent work systems
Zalando says it wants to deepen human rights due diligence in its own operations and in partner supply chains by 2028. It also plans to improve purchasing practices and wage management systems in its private labels. In plain terms, that means it wants to check labour risks more closely and make buying and pay systems less likely to harm workers.
2033
Cut near-term emissions
Zalando has a validated target to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2033 from a 2022 base year. It also aims to cut absolute scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services, plus upstream transport and distribution, by 33% in the same period.
2040
Reach net zero in own ops
Zalando says it aims to reach net zero by 2040 for its own operations and private labels. It also says it wants to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% by 2040 from a 2022 base year, with the rest of the reduction coming from direct cuts rather than offsets where possible.
2050
Reach net zero across value chain
Zalando says it aims to reduce absolute scope 3 emissions by 90% by 2050 from a 2022 base year. Scope 3 means emissions from the wider value chain, such as goods it buys, transport, packaging, and delivery partners. It says any remaining emissions would be neutralised through carbon removals.
