Join us on our journey to a safe and healthy future.

BekaertDeslee's sustainability strategy is built on three pillars: protecting the planet, empowering people, and engaging society. The company has set science-based and SBTi-validated targets to reduce Scope 1 & 2 CO₂ emissions by 64% and value chain emissions by 30% by 2030, in line with the Paris Agreement. Alongside decarbonisation, BekaertDeslee is committed to a fully circular textile chain by 2050, with intermediate targets by 2030, rethinking product design, material sourcing, and end-of-life recovery across the entire value chain. Our Why Improving lives Scientists have found a powerful treatment that boosts memory, creativity, health, and happiness —while making you live longer. It’s free, natural, and incredibly effective. The treatment is called sleep. Our Purpose: We improve the lives of many, for generations, enabling the planet to sleep better. Mitigating impact Worldwide, every year, we estimate up to 100 million mattresses end up in landfill or are incinerated. Our sustainability mission: We do what’s right, for a better tomorrow Creating value With more than 100 years of history, we are dedicated to delivering long term value through society at large. Our vision: We will be your trusted and preferred partner, passionate in providing sustainable textile solutions, close to you.

BekaertDeslee Sustainability Actions

SBTi-Validated Carbon Reduction Targets

BekaertDeslee's greenhouse gas emission reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), committing to a 64.2% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 2030 and a 30% reduction in Scope 3 supply chain emissions. This science-based commitment aligns with the 1.5°C pathway of the Paris Agreement. Monthly reporting on Scope 1 and 2 emissions, plus major Scope 3 categories, ensures ongoing transparency and accountability on progress towards these validated targets. Annual Sustainability Reporting Since 2018

Since 2018, BekaertDeslee has published annual sustainability progress reports, measuring and communicating performance across climate, circularity, social and governance indicators. These reports are publicly available and cover all material topics including policies, challenges, actions and progress. This commitment to systematic, transparent reporting reflects BekaertDeslee's belief that accountability is the foundation of meaningful sustainability progress. ReCover Project: Circular Mattress Design with Resortecs & TripleR.io

In 2025, BekaertDeslee launched ReCover - a two-year VLAIO-funded research project in collaboration with Resortecs and TripleR.io to revolutionise circular mattress design. The project integrates three key innovations: BekaertDeslee-developed mattress covers designed for disassembly and textile-to-textile recycling; Resortecs' Smart Stitchâ„¢ heat-dissolvable thread enabling automated material separation at end-of-life; and TripleR.io's MattressID digital product passport platform for full lifecycle traceability. ReCover is a major step towards removing the systemic barriers to mattress recycling.

Infinity Cover: Award-Winning Circular Product Innovation

BekaertDeslee's Infinity Cover won the prestigious 2025 Interzum Award for High Product Quality - a recognition of its breakthrough as a recyclable mono-material mattress cover made from 100% polyester with 91% recycled content. This includes 53% from PET bottles, 30% from BekaertDeslee's own post-production waste, and 8% from chemically recycled textile-to-textile sources. Compared to virgin polyester covers, the Infinity Cover delivers a COâ‚‚ equivalent reduction of up to 26%, while enabling efficient disassembly and reintegration into new production cycles.

Sustainable Product Design: Eco-Material Sourcing

BekaertDeslee is systematically transitioning its product ranges towards more sustainable materials, including recycled fibres, certified organic inputs, and lower-impact alternatives to virgin polyester. The company tracks eco-designed product share as a core KPI and aims to increase it progressively through to 2030. By embedding sustainability criteria early in the design process, BekaertDeslee ensures that circularity and reduced ecological footprint are built in from the start - not bolted on at the end.

BekaertDeslee updates its sustainability strategy for a fully integrated approach

The outcome of our Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) provided valuable insights into the most relevant sustainability topics for BekaertDeslee. These insights form the foundation of our updated sustainability strategy, built around three strategic pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG). At the heart of this strategy lies our purpose - guiding our actions and decisions as we work towards creating long-term value for all stakeholders. Each ESG pillar translates our material topics into concrete ambitions and initiatives, ensuring that our strategy is both focused and future-proof.

2024

CO2 reduction targets are validated by SBTi

The textiles industry has a high negative impact on climate change as one of the highest contributors to carbon emissions. The bedding sector requires significant effort to keep it on track to contribute to global sustainability goals. By setting science-based targets and taking climate action, BekaertDeslee wants to be an accelerator and a game changer in the sector. Check our latest sustainability report to learn more about out targets, roadmap and progress (in the Evidence library).
