Reach net zero emissions
EnergyAustralia says it is working toward net zero by 2050. In plain terms, that means it plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as far as it can and balance any remaining emissions later. Its climate transition plan says this target covers Scopes 1 and 2, with an ambition to extend it to Scope 3 too.

Exit coal by 2040
The company says it will be out of coal by 2040. Coal is a high-emissions fuel, so this is a major part of its climate plan. EnergyAustralia also says it wants to expand its renewable portfolio, which means increasing the share of cleaner energy in its business.
