The programme covers sustainable sourcing, environmental responsibility, charity and support for its team members. The company has set targets for more sustainable cotton, recycled polyester, packaging made from more sustainable materials, and greater transparency in its supply chain. It also reports ethical trading standards for suppliers, third-party audits, and work with charities including the Woodland Trust. The content indicates a focus on materials, packaging, supplier oversight and tree planting, alongside commitments on equality and employee support.

Joules Sustainability Actions

More sustainable cotton sourcing

We want 100% of cotton sourced to more sustainable cotton by the end of 2022. It was 78% in the year to June 2021 – up 130% on 2019/20. With cotton being the biggest natural material used in the fashion industry and making up more than 50% of the raw materials used in Joules products, we understand the importance of moving to sustainable sources to reduce our impact on the environment and also safeguard human rights.

Joined recycled polyester challenge

To support this target, we are proud to have joined the 2025 Recycled Polyester Challenge, committing to sourcing 100% recycled polyester to support the industry in achieving an overall increase to 45% by 2025.

Sustainable viscose sourcing

To protect forests across the world, we are working to ensure the wood pulp used to create the viscose in our products is sourced from certified sustainably managed forests, and where possible the viscose is produced using eco-responsible production processes. All of the sustainable viscose we are using is Lenzing EcoVero viscose, which not only uses sustainable wood pulp from FSC or PEFC certified sources, but also uses a fibre-manufacturing process that generates up to 50% lower emissions and water impact compared with conventional viscose, and uses closed loop processes that allow for chemical recovery.
