- This is an unclaimed profile. Tal Apparel has not joined Sustainability Tracker to verify their sustainability credentials. We gathered what we could from public sources.
TAL Apparel presents sustainability as part of how it runs its business, not as a side project. It says it uses environmental, social, and governance (ESG) rules in its management system and focuses on climate, water, waste, chemicals, and worker safety. The company reports measuring its greenhouse gas footprint since 2009, water footprint since 2011, and using the Higg Facility Environmental Module (a factory scoring tool) since 2013. It also says it has LEED-certified buildings, works with industry standards like ZDHC and bluesign®, and is moving toward science-based climate targets. Most of the detail comes from TAL itself, so independent public evidence is limited. Positive Sentiment Found Public third-party sentiment is limited, but the available signals are mostly neutral to mildly positive. TAL appears in Trustpilot search results for tal.net with a 3.4 out of 5 score based on 1 review, which is too small to be a strong public verdict but does not suggest major backlash. Independent directory pages also show that TAL is part of broader sustainability and fashion-rating ecosystems, including Good On You’s brand directory and Commons Earth’s independently evaluated brand listings. TAL’s own sustainability claims are detailed and specific, with named standards such as LEED, ZDHC, bluesign®, and the Higg FEM, which can help build trust when they are independently checked. However, the public record shown here does not include a full third-party sustainability rating for TAL itself. Common Criticisms: There is very little independent criticism in the available material, but there is also very little third-party verification of TAL’s sustainability claims. The main concern is transparency: most of the detailed environmental data comes from TAL itself, and the company says it will resume publishing Higg FEM scores only after Cascale finishes its updated verification program. That means some factory performance data is currently not publicly available in a fully verified form. The Trustpilot result shown for tal.net is based on only 1 review, so it does not provide a reliable picture of customer sentiment. Overall, the issue is not a clear public scandal, but a lack of broad independent evidence.

Tal Apparel Sustainability Commitments
2022
Set net-zero science targets
In 2022, TAL said it committed to setting net-zero science-based targets through the Science Based Target initiative, often called SBTi. Science-based targets are emissions goals that follow climate science. TAL says this work includes cutting its own emissions and also helping suppliers lower their scope 1 and 2 emissions, which are the direct emissions from a company and the emissions from purchased energy.
2025
Raise Higg FEM scores
TAL says it has a plan to raise average factory Higg FEM scores to 80 in 2025. The Higg FEM is a factory environmental scoring tool used in the apparel sector. TAL says this target is part of a wider effort to keep improving environmental management across its factories.
